Total Earnings Since I started blogging to earn

I just realized that it's already been a year since I started blogging back again to earn money and now that I found this out, I have to give a recap on the past year on how much in total I've earned through the different programs I've signed my website and then some other sites out.

I'm actually in a total shock that I've earned that much in a span of a year. But I'm equally in shock in locating where this amount has gone off. hehe. Of course, there are bills and other expenses. But I'm happy cause I didn't expect this much to come to me.

I have 4 blogs to maintain, two have their own domain and two are free blogger accounts. I don't earn as much in those blogger accounts but the domains are really vital.

For now, I'm planning to get another domain. hehe.

legit

I'm very glad that those unexpected emails turned out to be legit after all. We don't know how many crazy people are online who'd transact business only to fool you. I followed the tasks that they wanted, like putting a text link on my other domain's main web page and also did some opportunities that required me to publish and submit the URLs right then and there.

Afterwards, I got paid the amount that was agreed upon. Now, I'm 105 dollars richer! I couldn't believe I was able to earn that much in less than a week!

Now don't get me wrong, I don't earn a lot still. But I like the way that I have some extra cash to spend *ehem* save. hehe. Knowing that my full time job can only do so much especially if you're in a family of seven and there's no stable income from your parents and your life started with full of debt. Anyway, before I get too personal, I'm going to cut this short.

I'm happy that again, I got some extra cash for my savings.

3rd payout!

3rd payout! Yey! I got my 3rd payout which is comprised of paid reviews from last week of May to first two weeks of August 2008. Again, this isn't much to professional bloggers but I do this as a sideline so it's nice that almost every now and then, I get a bonus from earning online money.



These were earned under my personal/travel blog: Soloflighted.com plus some extra tasks from my admin for her site. I also have earned some money through another personal weblog I created but I'm not using the moolah any time soon.

I'll be getting the money from my Admin later on tonight and I'm planning to just save this bunch so I can pay it off for school.

I'm on a high already. :)

raking it

Because of the new project (my other site) that I put up, I'm also starting to reap some rewards of setting it up. I'm getting paid for the entries that I put up. That's why I'm glad that it's starting to earn. Although my site still needs more traffic or a better page rank, I'm quite happy that after barely 2 months, it's slowly gaining some alexa traffic aside from my soloflighted.com.

Anyway, this is also one of the tips that you can get. If you have a number of blogs with a high page rank, then you can simply enroll them in those paid post sites. That's where the real deal comes in where you can potentially try to quit your regular job (of course, I don't want to recommend; hehe). But I know of a former colleague who did just that and didn't bother that she's become a bum because she has around 10 sites to maintain and yet her salary is way better compared to mine.

Well, I don't know yet if I plan to quit my job just to become a professional blogger because I still enjoy the environment at work. We'll see; as for now, I hope I can keep on raking it.

saving up

Since my first pay out, I haven't been earning as much. Nevertheless, I'm planning to save the money that I've earned until it would reach at least 10, 000 pesos. That's what the admin and I agreed on so I could also put the extra cash to good use; since last pay out, I don't know what I did with it anymore.

The reason why I started out earning money through blogging is that I wanted to pay off old debts and fulfill some ambitions that require moolah to do so. It turns out that I'm not earning as much with my day job, so I figured I'd find other means to earn extra cash. Hence, blogging came to place.

Anyway, like I said, I need to save up for schooling. I plan to go back so I can finally get a degree. I still have a lot of semesters to finish.

For the month of April, I just earned about half of my first pay out. It's not much but I always think that this is extra income already which is good enough to pay for electricity and the internet connection itself.

So, I'm looking forward to the time I'll be able to get the money in bulk. But for now, I try not to focus much on it so it'll be a surprise by then.

Blogsvertise. This is where I'm getting most of my income nowadays.

They'll email you if an advertiser wants to hire you to write about something. If you don't like the task, you can simply accept or decline according to your preference. They would like you to provide some information on why you declined a task. This helps in filtering out the probable opportunities that will come your way in the future.

What's great about Blogsvertise is they have a "Grab task" option wherein other bloggers who decline certain posts will be collected to a certain bin where you can grab the ones that you would like to create. You are limited for one task per day and I tell you, the range is quite good!

You can choose which one to add as added opportunity, which means added cash to your account.

Smorty

Smorty, another paid post site I was introduced to. The layout has a greenish effect that is already okay since I like green, hehe. Anyway, so far opportunities aren't that great, maybe because my page rank isn't that high yet. I couldn't get any more offers aside from the first post that I did for them. I guess I have to increase more traffic to my site.

What I like about Smorty is its payout. They pay approved tasks on a weekly basis so it's really good cause other paid post sites would pay you after a month.

importance of having a domain

I bought a domain already. But it's a domain for a personal blog that I'm not publicizing much. The reason why I bought one is because of some certain limitations of having a just a blogger or a Wordpress account.

Here's what happened. I created a personal blog in Wordpress. I posted some entries until it reached a certain number of posts and I made sure that it would be ready to get accepted by paid post sites. I signed up for some accounts already; some sites approved my blog, some didn't because it's not yet ranked. But there was one paid post site that informed me that they wouldn't accept that Wordpress account because Wordpressdoesn't allow paid posts in its site. My eyes became wide open at that time, being dumbfounded. And I thought Wordpress was all that. According to the TOS (Terms of Service), they really don't allow paid posts. So I resulted to just buying my own domain and host, that's what you get for not reading. sheesh.

Because I didn't want to move all my entries to another account like blogger/blogspot that allows paid posts (since I also have two other accounts here, edearns.blogspot.com and edsnaps.blogspot.com, I suddenly bought a site already. That was the driving factor for leading me to getting my own domain.

Other factors that are still important are that paid post sites would give priority to those sites that have their own domain. So, even if your free blogger account gets approved, advertisers would still hire you if your blog is worthy. It's just that they'd give more importance to those who aren't hosted to a free account.

Also, since I didn't know how to set up my own site. Because of this, I'm able to understand the concept of FTP servers and PHP permissions and plug-ins. This will add to my credibility since I have encountered the many frustrations of building a site; especially that I'm not a technical person. I just like to learn a lot so I won't look like a fool when people ask me questions on how I did what and where.

In the mean time, just to clarify things, you can still use a free blogger account (I guess blogspot would still be the best choice). As for me, I have to deal with some paid post sites that I've already created tasks for. I hope it wouldn't be back to the drawing board.created tasks for and see how to manage this predicament.

At least the hosting isn't that expensive, actually it's quite cheap for me. I don't even know how to compare it with other hosting services out there. But I got this data from a colleague at work who's credibility I don't have any question about. So I tried this host out for myself. to blog for money or not?

To blog for money or NOT?

I asked myself this question a whole bunch of times before I returned to blogging. Right now, I'm still stuck in that stage where I don't want to compromise my site in putting too much commercialism in it as I wanted to preserve the essence of blogging.

I used to blog for blogging's sake. I wanted to express my thoughts just to have my piece of the pie in creating a statement, no matter how little that would be. Until it came to a point that I didn't want to blog anymore. However, the interest came back when I learned I could blog to earn.

Right now, I'm really making some moolah out of my personal blog. But I don't want to bombard it with too many side content that's it's already hard to distinguish what the purpose for it is.

That's why if you have plans on how you want to blog, you need to sort out your sentiments if you really want to earn or not. As for me, I just wanted to be somewhere in the middle. I'd want to monetize my site, however, I still want to be a part of that small group with some entries that are worth reading.

Not that those sites that focus more on earning such as the one here, isn't worth reading. We all have different perspectives and opinions on how we view blogging.

On my end, I had to blog because I needed the money. Of course, who doesn't need some right? But again, we all have our own reasons, just don't let yourself get caught in between. You should know what you want. If you think that you'd be compromised with the way you are writing and putting different ads or paid content on your site, then stop already. You do have a choice anyway.

As what a colleague at work commented when I was still having this inner conflict inside me whether to blog for money or not, he asked me: "What is the sole purpose why you blogged?" I replied "Because I want to earn". There you have it, enough said.

Sorry guys, I thought I could update as soon as I get back here. However, I've been pretty busy and tired from all of this updating. hehe. I thought I could provide more tips, most likely I can; but it's either that I don't have much time or I'm already dead-tired to sleep when I go home and check some information. Don't worry, I'm not gone; it's just that I can't update. I'm just posting this entry to say I'm still alive.

I know there are some people who'd drop by but wouldn't say so. It would benefit a lot though, that you'd give a comment on how I've expressed my thoughts with this online earning data. At least I'd know that people do read them as it also, in some way, boosts my morale in keeping you posted on how to earn while blogging. There's actually a shoutbox on the right side of this page for you to give a quick shout out.

So I guess I won't be able to update this site over the weekend. I'll be off somewhere. That's why while I'm gone (as if I'll be gone for how many weeks), I'll think about some proper topics to discuss when I get back.

I really want to get serious with earning online and making some money through this.

traffic

As said in the previous post, we're going to talk about how soloflighted.com started to gain traffic to my site..

1. Submitted my site to Google

2. Told some of my friends about it to add to the traffic.
   

3. Blog-hopped, left some comments and exchanged links - the rule is usually i scratch your back, you scratch mine.
   

4. Applied for blog networks (blogcatalog, mybloglog).
   

5. Posted my site to forums (caution: don't post your site to just about anywhere if you feel you might get fired from your work because of the content of your entries).
   

6. Put pictures on my site - right now, most people are more inclined to seeing pictures in sites rather than read the entries. Although the articles are supposed to be the main attractions of your site, readers would catch sight of pictures first.
   

7. Post entries that are of good quality. It's useless if you just post spam in your site; as eventually, people will want to read more on the content of your entries rather than just a bunch of hullabaloos; unless of course your hullabaloos are worth reading.

Caution: Don't post your site to just about anywhere if you feel you don't want a lot of people you know to read your blogs; or if you feel you might get fired from your work because of the content of your entries talking about work! Be sensible enough. Remember that these are just what I did for my site.

I know there are a number of ways on how to increase traffic, but I'm taking my time slowly now. Besides, this is all that I know. hehe. If you have some more tips, you can post them in the comment section; as I'm also willing to learn more. I'm finding some ways *ehem* proper ways in order to attract good traffic on my site.

I'm running out of topics to write. haha. I can't believe it came to this point already, this early? I was so sure I had a lot of information I could give to people out there; but right now there's a drought of data in my head.

I guess this is just a phase, since I haven't had enough sleep and I'm off to work after a couple of hours. sigh, another 5 day-working spree.

Paid Posts

So this is where I was able to generate my money... through paid posts.

There are a number of sites that are willing to hire bloggers to write a certain topic or interest. These are just some that I can mention at the back of my head. I know there are a number, but since I don't have first-hand experience I don't really have much knowledge. But since I don't think it's that hard to comprehend, I think I can explain it properly anyway.

Actually, these sites are just platforms for advertisers and bloggers alike. Advertisers are looking for advertisers who are looking for bloggers to blog about their products. But because I'm a blogger, I'll be focusing more on a blogger's perspective.

First, you need to sign up for these sites. Of course, in the process of signing up, there are some requirements and conditions in the process (e.g. your blog should be 2-3 months old, must have X number of entries, must be regularly updated etc.).

It may take awhile for your blog to get approved depending on how they will be able to review your site. So don’t fret that it may take some time, because it WILL take some time.

These paid post sites are where you need to apply so you can check some “opportunities/bids/tasks". These tasks can range from $3-$200 or even more, again, depending on some certain qualifications. Sometimes, they will accept only those PageRanks (will be discussing this in future posts) that are high. But there are some that are not that hard to bid for; and that's where we're targeting more. Since I can't demand for much (who am I, right?), I'm taking things slowly, and applying for bids that are quite okay for my range.

These tasks also have certain requirements (e.g. it should have an X number of words, should have some keywords mandated by the advertiser, should be posted on or before *date*, etc.). Once you follow their steps, and once they review your work; they'll approve it and you can get your payout!

Note: I'm not so sure how long the cycle for the payout would be cause I'm not good with calendars. But I got my first payout after a month, and I'm still running on my second month through paid blogging at soloflighted.com.

I'll try to post some useful tips to talk about paid posts some more.

first payout!

I just got my first payout for the month of April from the admin. $110, not bad for somebody who's just starting out. I received the fruits of my labor 5 days ago and it feels so good knowing that I earned something this big for a craft which is already a part of me.

I even created an Excel format (just basic computations) to keep track of what I've posted and which tasks I've published.

I'm just so high right now, knowing that I finally generated some income out of blogging. I'm not one of those skeptical people who thinks that earning online is such a big joke, but neither did I really believe I could earn some dough out of it, until now.

things I did

I started earning money for extra tasks from the admin during November of 2007. But it's only now that I started to earn money for my site. Here's a list of things I did that began my adventures in the blogging business.

I initially wrote "Things to Do" for this list, but since I can't guarantee that you'll have the same outcome as I do, I replaced it with "Things I Did". This mainly serves as a guide for reference.

Things I Did:

• Create a Paypal account - This is used for cash (or should I say cashless) transactions. This is the main mode of payment used by generally everyone.
  

• Apply for a Union Bank EON Account - In order for you to apply for a paypal account, you need to have a credit card (Mastercard or Visa). Since I didn't have any at that time, my admin suggested that I apply for a Union Bank EON account which is the only savings account that accepts paypal in the Philippines.
  

• Create a Blog! - This is where you earn cash as you blog. The best place that accepts most of those advertisements and paid posts as well as customize your page for your pleasure would be... you guessed it right, Blogger/Blogspot. But since I already had one (with a lot of entries at that) my admin purchased a domain for me. She bought a domain at Wordpress.

Note: Your blog should meet certain requirements imposed by different pay per post sites (e.g. blog must be 3 months old, must all have original content, etc.).

• Apply for a Dneero Survey Account - This isn't much but it can be handy at times. You can only get a certain amount for every survey you take and post to your site. It doesn't hurt to earn some while taking surveys.
  

• Apply for Google Adsense - This is where most people with a website (with high traffic) earn their moolah. You just have to copy and paste the codes and place them on your site. For every click *ehem* for every VALID click, you get a few cent's worth of revenue.
  

By the way, don't ever, ever, ever, EVER, EVER!!! click on your own ads. I can't stress it more.

• Apply for Paid Post Sites - Where I earn most of my income through blogging since in my blog, I more or less advertise different products.
  

I'll be writing posts with better detail of the thing I mentioned above.

I created this blog just to chronicle the life of my site: soloflighted.com and how I started earning and making money out of it. Some people may find the idea of blogging money absurd, especially those who are really skeptical. Sure you may laugh at me as I may sound like an email spammer, as if I sell different types of medicines or insurances from Timbuktu. But hey, I'm really earning!

This blog is just a guide for those people who have plans of making use of their blog to earn some moolah.
